Urgent Search Underway for Young Girl Missing from Camping Trip in New York
A serene family camping excursion at Moreau Lake State Park, New York, took a distressing turn when nine-year-old Charlotte Sena vanished during an evening bike ride.
Charlotte's disappearance, which transpired on a Saturday, has left authorities deeply concerned. The last time anyone saw her was around 6:15 pm. The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children has voiced serious apprehensions, indicating that the circumstances of her vanishing hint at potential grave danger.
Charlotte, a Greenfield-based fourth-grader, was on a camping adventure with her family and friends. She was last spotted donning an orange tie-dye Pokémon tee, dark blue trousers, black Crocs, and a gray biking helmet.
She is a white female, with blonde locks, standing at 5-foot-1, and weighing around 90 pounds. Trisha Sena, Charlotte's mother, made an emotional appeal for her daughter's safe comeback, portraying her as a kind-hearted and trusting young girl.
The Sena family has a cherished tradition of camping, with the state park located merely 15 minutes from their residence. On the day Charlotte went missing, she and two dear friends, almost like family to her, decided to embark on a bike ride as the evening approached.
After cycling around the trail, her friends chose to return, while Charlotte decided to take one more solo loop. Her prolonged absence raised alarms for her parents, David and Trisha.
A spontaneous search group, comprising even strangers from neighboring campgrounds, was assembled. Trisha reached out to the authorities half an hour later, and by 7 p.m., state police were at the scene.
The relentless search operation, led by multiple law enforcement agencies, has been ongoing since Sunday. State Police Lt. Col. Richard Mazzone expressed that the intensity of the search hints at a possible abduction.
State Police Troop G's Stephanie O’Neil reiterated this sentiment, emphasizing that while Charlotte is known for her adventurous spirit, such a disappearance is uncharacteristic for her.
David Sena, Charlotte's father, is affiliated with Local Union 773 in Queensbury. The union has made a heartfelt plea for assistance in the search and has asked everyone to keep the Sena family in their prayers.
An Amber Alert was activated for Charlotte on Sunday, and the FBI has now joined the search efforts. Governor Kathy Hochul has vowed a thorough search, ensuring every possible location is inspected.
As the frantic search persists, our thoughts are with Charlotte and her family, and we implore anyone with pertinent information to step forward.
