Colorado Mother Accused of Killing Children Appears in UK Court
Kimberlee Singler, a 35-year-old mother from Colorado Springs, faced court in the United Kingdom following her arrest on charges related to the deaths of two of her children. She appeared in Westminster Magistrates' Court for an extradition hearing after being apprehended in London's Kensington area.
Singler had been sought by the Colorado Springs Police Department in connection with the killings of her 9-year-old daughter and 7-year-old son, and the attempted murder of her 11-year-old daughter. The tragic events are believed to have occurred on December 19, with the initial police response being to a falsely reported burglary.
Initially treated as a potential victim, Singler's status shifted to that of a suspect. She reportedly cooperated with the police initially but then fled to the United Kingdom. Her arrest in London marks a significant development in the case, which had seen her last spotted on December 23 in Colorado.
The charges against Singler are grave and numerous, including two counts of first-degree murder, attempted murder, child abuse, and assault, reflecting the severity of the alleged crimes. A Colorado judge set her bond at $10 million.
The case has also unearthed a legal dispute between Singler and her ex-husband over custody of their children, adding another layer of complexity to the tragic situation. Details of the case are expected to be further elaborated in a planned press conference by the Colorado Springs Police Department.
